2. Description of Service

Hemistich is a WhatsApp-based student utility bot that provides academic tools including but not limited to:

  • PDF and document summarization
  • GPA/CGPA calculation
  • Reminder scheduling
  • Resource storage and retrieval
  • AI-powered assignment help
  • Quiz and flashcard generation

The Service is provided via the WhatsApp messaging platform and is subject to WhatsApp's own terms of service.

3. Eligibility

To use Hemistich, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Have a valid WhatsApp account
  • Be a student or academic professional (recommended, not required)
  • Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use Hemistich to:

  • Submit academic work generated by the bot as entirely your own (academic dishonesty)
  • Upload illegal, harmful, or copyrighted content without authorization
  • Spam or abuse the service with excessive requests
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the service
  • Use the service for any commercial purpose without permission
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users or the service operators
  • Upload content containing malware or malicious code

5. AI-Generated Content

Please be aware that:

  • Hemistich uses AI (Google Gemini) to generate responses, summaries, quizzes, and flashcards.
  • AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies.
  • You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any information provided.
  • AI responses should be used as study aids, not as definitive academic sources.
  • We do not guarantee the correctness of GPA calculations — always verify with your institution.

6. Rate Limits and Fair Use

To ensure fair access for all users:

  • Daily usage limits apply to AI-powered features
  • File upload sizes are limited
  • Excessive or abusive usage may result in temporary or permanent restrictions
  • We reserve the right to modify rate limits at any time

7. Intellectual Property

  • You retain ownership of all content you upload to Hemistich.
  • By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process it for the purpose of providing the service.
  • The Hemistich name, branding, and code are our intellectual property.
  • AI-generated outputs (summaries, quizzes, etc.) may be used freely by you for personal academic purposes.

8. Service Availability

  • We strive to maintain 24/7 availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
  • The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues.
  • We are not liable for any loss resulting from service downtime.
  • We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Hemistich is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
  • We are not liable for any academic outcomes resulting from use of the service.
  • We are not responsible for data loss, though we take reasonable measures to prevent it.
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the service (which is zero for free users).

10. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Hemistich if:

  • You violate these Terms of Service
  • You engage in abusive or harmful behavior
  • Your usage patterns suggest automated or bot-driven access
  • Required by law or regulation

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the WhatsApp bot. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first.
